Coloring White On Kraft

Hi All!
So this is the first tutorial in a series I am going to show you over the next few months. In this post I am going to color white on kraft. There's many ways to so it and in fact it would depend on what kind of white youre coloring. Is it snow? You would want cool colors. A polar bear? Creamy colors. Each "white"would require slightly different pencils. You get the idea.
So today we're doing a sailor suit on this little cropped cutie by Mo Manning.
I'm using Lyra pencils and a kraft cardstock very similar to "Lunch Bag Kraft" which is what I would recommend you have a go with . I have noticed that true kraft is becoming increasingly difficult to find in the craft stores so the Kraft Outlet is a real treasure!

1) So just start out by coloring all over with White (ignore his face and hair I got carried away. lol)

2)Add your Dark Gray in the deepest shadows. It will look a little strange, that's ok. We like strange. :)

3)Now grab the Medium Gray and blend the dark gray into the white as best you can. It will still look a little "childish" at this point.

4)Now grab the silver gray and blend still further. You'll start seeing the shades come together now.

5) Light gray is next and just keep blending!

Its looking good but now it needs some "punch" so this is the "clean up phase":
6)  brighten the lightest areas with pure White
7) deepen any shadows that look a little "washed out"
8)  sharpen your lines with a black pencil and
9) add a touch of Aquamarine in your darker grays to make the white look a bit "cleaner". It's kind of like adding  "blueing" in  a hair rinse, but you don't want to overdo it or you'll have blue  hair  sailor clothes instead of white. :)

So there we have it! I hope you've had fun and next time we'll tackle the little boy's hair which will be a nice blonde.
Happy Crafting!

Hi All!

Its time for a new challenge at Jellypark!
This time we want to see some Weather on your projects~
I don't know about you but here in North Carolina winter wasn't much of a winter and the trees have been dropping leaves for the past four months. It's not technically "fall" but you could actually do what this gal is doing and go jump in the leaves ! (that is, if you're not afraid of chiggers and ticks but we wont go there, after all the challenge is "weather" not "insects" and I'd hate to give you the eeby jeebies...by the way, do you feel itchy?.... lol

Anyway! Back to the card!

A Friend Is Always There

Good morning all!
Its time for a new challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil!
It's time to Bling It On!
OK, I'm not the "blingiest" person out there, I'll admit it; but if you look closely you will see exactly three gems on this card. And a bow. :) Success!
Recipe:
Image: Mo Manning
Colors: CarbOthello Pastel Pencils on Kraft cardstock

Just a FYI for all you fabulous 'colorers' out there. You can see that I colored this Kraft with pastel pencils. It worked but it really isn't ideal. If you're looking to do pastels I would highly recommend you buy pastel paper. It works so much  nicer and the pigment stays put much better. You have to be very careful not to smudge the pastel on kraft, it kinda just sits on top, you know?
You can use a matte spray fixative to set the colors (not perfectly) but keep in mind that fixative can dull your colors, especially whites so I choose not to.
*Reminder*
There's still time to enter for a chance to win the "Friend " stamp set by Precious Remembrace be sure to click on the candy in my sidebar and add your name to Mr. Linky. A winner will be drawn at the end of the month. :)

Happy Crafting!

Kiss The Cook

Hi Guys!
I have a new Bunny Zoe's project for you today, featuring the art of Bildamarna. Now, I was very tempted to use this stamp in my recipe book, but well, I got to playing around and this card came out of it. ;)
I have to say I'm quite proud of those eggs. (Yes, they ARE eggs. Aren't they eggsuisite? And eggciting and eggasperatingly perfect? I find them eggshilarating and yet spellcheck is not so eggstatic which is eggsactly what I would eggspect in a case like this. Am I eggstraordinarily irritating today?? :) Eggshausting??
OK, I'll shut up now.
On to the card!
I am using this card also as my Catered Crop project this fortnight which is :
STITCHING.

Not Too Shabby

Hi Guys!
Well its time for a new monthly challenge at Bunny Zoe's! And I always say its easy peasy but look, I'm an honest person. So I'm gonna tell it to you like it is. This challenge had all my nails bitten off ~so brace yourselves.
Shabby Chic
Eeeeeeek!!!
But I don't DO Shabby Chic!!!!
Or maybe I do, like this:
Oh sorry, that's shabby chick!! See, this is complicated stuff!
I honestly didn't have a clue where to start. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that this little monstrosity took me ALL DAY!!
The shabbifying I can do, Its the chic part that throws me. lol
Anyway!
I'm sure you all will rock it, don't let me put you off! :/
I admit that the tearing things apart was rather cathartic...:) I just wonder if I sent this to someone if they would "get the whole shabby chic" thing or if they would open it up and just be like, "What the heck is this mess? Man, the mail service is getting really bad, look what it did to this card!" LOL
Right,I'm done now, just had to have some fun! Enjoy my creation! :-/

Some Bunny Loves You

Hi Guys!
Hey, did you know that March is "National Crafters Month"? I know, me neither. I thought it was every month!! lol
Anyway, the challenge this fortnight at Jellypark is in honor of "National Crafters Month" and basically the theme is (in my own words):
"Please The Crafter".
So use all your favorite goodies and create something special.
I fell in love with these little bunnies and thought they would go awesomely with my 6x6 MME paper pack "Rosy" in the "Lost and Found" collection. I decided to make a joyfold card.
The sentiments throughout are the "friends" stamp set by Precious Remembrance. (And remember, I have a set to give away so click on my candy in the sidebar so don't forget to go by and enter.)

Opened up.....

Well that's it for today!

I'll Be Right Over

Hi Guys!
So this week at Mo's DP2 Challenge we want you to "Try Something New"
So I'm working on my coloring with the CarbOthello Pastel Pencils. Now I know you may have seen one or two posts already where Ive used these pastel pencils but at the time I made this card (a good month ago) it was still very new, in fact, this was only my second or third attempt. You can tell that because I'm coloring  on Kraft which is something I have now abandoned for a more usable paper: Pastel Paper.
Anyway, isn't this gal great? Her hair is almost as long as my daughters!

Face is a little pink...I'm working on it!

I look forward to seeing your projects!
