Flowers!

Hi Guys!
I have to share with you my enthusiasm for a newfound hobby. Yay! :-)
I've been eyeballing these flowers for some weeks wanting to learn how to make them and finally
got the chance thanks to a new blogging buddy, Melissa from "inklinations"
You have to check her blog out, she does fab work and she has tutorials like this one that I used to make these flowers
So you can use anything: yarn, floss, hardanger thread etc, depending on what effect you're going for.
I used these. (below) the ball and the twisted skein is hardanger floss. It doesn't separate and is shinier than embroidery floss. Both come in tons of colors and you can get them at Jo Ann's, Michaels, etc.
(I happened to have bags of the stuff from a previous hobby spree...*blush*)

So I made some double flowers and some singles and some in between (cos I'm not too good at reading directions!) lol
And for those who are looking at them and thinking they're too time consuming they're really not.
One flower takes at most 15 minutes. In fact, my FIRST flower took less than 15 minutes, so go for it!
I'm thinking they'd make good blogcandy for an upcoming blogaversary what do you think??
You can also find lots of free patterns on the web if you just search "free crochet patterns". Most are really the same with different names but some are truly unusual.
Have fun!

Happily Ever After

Hi Guys!
So todays card was made just for fun. (my favorite kind!)
I bought this Phindy digi some time ago but this is my first time using it. I thought it would make a fab wedding or anniversary card. You'd just have to be careful who you send it to. Some may not take too kindly to the piggies.
But they're very sweet!
I'm using an image by Phindy, colored with Prismacolors and paper by My minds eye and DCWV.

A close up of their porcine appeal...

And wait for it! The INSIDE!!
(See, my new resolution: Finish the insides.)
And, I have to say that I'm finding it much easier to do it at the time of creation than have to race around later to find a scrap or two that matches...

I would like to enter this in:

Thanks for visiting!

Sentimental Sundays ~ Winter / Bite Me

Hi Everyone!
I hope your weekend is going well. :-)
Today's CAS card was made for the new challenge at Sentimental Sundays which is
Winter.
(and you thought we were done with winter. Ha!)

The stamp is by Whimsy, colored with Prismacolors and the sentiment from my own sick mind. :-)
Papers and ribbon from stash.
I just love the expression on this rabbits face. The "so sorry but I couldn't help myself" look.
Kinda like my daughters face when I asked her where my last square of Cadbury's Fruit and nut bar went on Wednesday......

So that's it from me! Cant wait to see all your work this week!
Keep it fun!
I would like to join in on the following challenges:
Mami Doodles: Mostly blue

Monster Love

So today is a card just for fun!
Barbara, over at Forgotten scraps has made a free digi and a challenge in using it.
You might want to hop over and nab him yourself. the challenge is open for another week or so.
Anyway,  I thought the little guy was pretty adorable so I had to see what I could come up with!
Ive used papers from one of those HUGE  K&Co packs and colored him with Prismacolros.
The sentiment is from me and printed on the PC

A close up of the shweet little monster..

And lookie here guys! I finished the INSIDE of the card!!
Wahoo for me!
Complete with monster nibble. lol

Mo's DP2 Challenge ~ Playtime

OK so first things first. Today's challenge at Mo's this week is
Playtime.
And  now its time for a "first time", so I hope you'll all be kind to me. :-)
Today was my fist time in producing an AA card, that is an image with ethnic skin tones.
Yikes! I have to say it was scary!
But Trina told me to bite the bullet and I couldn't go far wrong as there's so many tones out there I'm bound to land on one of them. lol
Soooooo.....

Trina, have I landed???
Well its not bad... I could've used a few more layers perhaps but the paper wouldn't hold any more and I was afraid of the  "one step beyond" catastrophe occurring. lol
I am still practicing, so the next one, theoretically speaking, should be better. :-)
A close up of all the chocolaty goodness.

So! there ya go. On to the next "first time!"
I hope you can join us at Mo's and like I said, be nice to me ;-)

You're Not Alone

Hellooooooo!!!!
As promised! Another Toby Tumble card :-)
Once again, you can find Toby digi here at Cuddly Buddly . (and be careful how you spell that, its, Cuddly B-U-D-D-L-Y , not cuddly buddy. That's like an online dating service. lol)
I am using a variety of paper here, mostly K&Co. and have colored the digi with prismacolors.
(I know, shocker.)

You know what I love about these toby stamps?
I think it's that  comforting quality about them. I'm always looking for something sweet that could be used for an encouragement card or sympathy card that's not simply a bouquet of flowers, you know what I mean?
You want something that's not TOO cheerful cos that just looks like "I'm happy and you're not" but you don't want doom and gloom images either, right?
 So!
There ya go.

and as always, a close up:

Bloom Where You're Planted

Well I thought it was time to do a little distressing!
I found a Phindy digi that I had never printed out and colored (shame of shames!) so I combined the two.
The "seed packet" is a downloaded google image of a vintage seed packet that I just aged a little with distress inks.
Papers are K&Co. and the clip is Tim Holtz.(love those clips. Each one has a different word on it. This clip says "Snipits".
The punch is Martha Stewart.

And a close up below:

Friends

Hi!
Today's card I made for the fun of it. this Mo image looks just like my daughter and her best friend and they're the huggy type too so its really quite funny!

The Dp is mostly K&Co.

Just a reminder for those who love Mo images, remember that The DP2 challenge is a weekly event and today was the start of a new challenge (Go Retro) so please be sure to join in when ever you're able to. We'd love for you to play along.

Mo's Digital Pencil ~ Go Retro!

Hi ALL!
 I hope you're all having a great week! :-)
Today's challenge at Mo's is a fun one. "Go Retro".
I really don't know a whole lot about the decades before I came to be so I chose a color scheme from basically every person's home in the 1970's.
You gotta love those shag carpets, olive tupperware and mustard telephones.
A close up:

I am using a mo image colored with prismacolors on Kraft cardstock and have used assorted papers from my stash. :-)

Hi Again!
Today's card I made for a friend who is going through a hard time and I really like how it came out, thanks to the wonderful Toby Tumble stamps that I just discovered! :-)
They're digis and there's not many of them but they're so sweet. You can find them here   .
I colored them with prismacolors and the papers are also digital. Tracy Ann I believe.

And a close up of the cuties!

Sassy Cheryl's Friends .....ME!!!!

Hi Guys!
Well this is a little weird. I actually wrote and posted a post today for my slot with Sassy Cheryl. I looked at it. Everything was in order. Then off I went all day and returned to an email from Cheryl asking if I was ok????
No post.
What is up with blogger? It ate my post! It wasn't even in my drafts or anywhere, just gone!
Anyway, I'm starting over even though the day is over.
Cheryl from Sassy Chery asked if I could participate in her Featured Friend monday post.
I said YES!

So I chose two of her lovely digis and created these fun cards.

I am using prismacolors on both cards.

Thank you so much Cheryl for the honor  and thank you all
for coming by . I wish I could have had this up earlier but we can thank blogger for that. :-)

Hugs,
Dorcas
