Mephibosheth's First Swim

Hi Guys!
Well several of you have been asking for an update about my crippled duckling, Mephibosheth. (Fibby). He's doing much better and getting stronger every day. In the video above you can see him takinghis very first swim at 6 days old. He took another one two days later (I didn't video it) and he was swimming straighter and stronger. He is still crippled, nothing has changed in that department, but the leg braces help him walk a little more normally (which I remove when he's in the water) and he's eating and drinking well. He's quite a bit smaller than Fiona but that just adds to his cuteness. :-)
In the video below, Fibby is joined by Fiona and Wendy.

And just an update on my 16 older ducklings , they're in a pen, inside a pen. We let them into the bigger pen a couple times a day to run around and between the two pens it keeps predators out. The one small pen alone did not. A snapping turtle found he could reach into the chicken wire and now we have a lame duckling who got her thigh gashed. (She was leaning against the edge of the cage.)
Needless to say, I won't be letting them outside the large pen til we have the turtle population more under control.
You can see how they love to muck their water up as soon as you fill it. lol

And here's the vegetable garden, doing amazingly well. Ive never seen anything like it, the squash are incredible. This pic was taken a week ago and now the squash have reached the top of those peaks.

So thats the news on the homefront!
I'll be back with a card on Thursday and once again I apologize if I haven't got around to your blogs recently. I am trying my best but Spring is, well, Spring. So much to do....
Take care everyone and I can't wait to stomp around Blogland and see all your lovely creations!

Hi Dorcas, I had just come in from tending my veggies but they are nothing like yours! Some seem a bit reluctant to make an appearance at all. LOL. So glad all the ducklings are doing so well now and that the newest are getting stronger all the time. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Wow hes doing well you must be so pleased with him, and I know you will want him to be a lot bigger before he goes in with the rest of the ducks so he can look after himself.
Not sure what the answer to the snapping turtles are, how did they get in the pond in the first place? With hugs Shirleyxxxx

Oh, my goodness! Those ducklings are just the cutest things ever! How adorable they are swimming around in the bathtub! The older ones are getting quite large, aren't they? They are all cute but you have to love the poor little lame one. Love your card too. I need to try coloring on kraft cardstock. It looks fantastic when you do it but I'm not sure I can measure up!
