Kraft OUtlet~ Use Any Sketch

Hi Guys!
So how is everyone!
This week at The Kraft Journal we are wanting you all to find a sketch and use it!
It doesn't have to be a recent one it can be any at all. I'm using an older one from Mojo Monday and I have turned it on its side to make this "scrap card". (Yup! Using my scraps again!)

I just LOVE this cat! Reminds me of my Gingerboy after his morning feed...or was it his mid-morning feed? Or maybe lunch?? Or snack?? Breaktime??

Recipe:
Cat Stamp: Eat Cake Graphics, Cake stamp: Stampin Up
Paper: MME Stella and Rose "Gertie"
Border Punch: Martha Stewart

And the inside which reads:
"We're so happy when surrounded by cake, I mean, friends"

Thats it from me today!

Card Clearance

Hi Guys!
So Ive taken a leaf out of my blogging buddy Jak's book and with some encouragement from her I decided to have a card clearance. Over the past several months I have accumulated more cards than I can possibly use and rather than just give them away to people who may or may not use them I would love to at least get back what I paid in supplies to make them.
Time is irretrievable, but I did have fun so all is not a waste. :)
Above is a sampling of what is available.
I have at least 7 packs (of 5 cards each) to sell to anyone who is interested. First come first served, when they're gone they're gone .
The selection will be mine, (I just don't have the extra time to sort through specific cards for the price I'm selling them for.)
5 cards for $12 plus p&p
email me if you're interested and I can let you know what it cost me to post it when I send them off. Payment by paypal is fine.

Hugs all!

Need A Hug?

Hi Guys!
So this week at Mo's DP2 we want to see your

I do love yellow (but not to wear!) and gray together so I chose this stamp as the colors just sort of came together naturally with the blonde hair and gray cat.
I hope you like it too. :)

Recipe:
Papers:DCWV "Lemon Flowers" and MME "Sunshine"
Punch: Martha Stewart
Brads: from stash

Toadstool and Flutter

Hi All!
So today is my last card as GD for Purple Onion and  my last Stacey Yacula creation for you all.
I'm sure I'll be stalking her blog in the months to come, the girl is insanely talented!
Anyway! Todays card is pretty self explanatory. I simply colored the image with pastel pencils and mounted it on cardstock with a bit of twine and two buttons. Just let the image do the talking. :)

Recipe:
Twine: from stash
CarbOthello Pastel pencils on Pastel Paper
Buttons: Home Sew
Cardstock: Coordinations

Hope you enjoy todays creation!

Coloring Skin on Kraft with Lyra Rembrant Pencils

Hi Guys!
So a few of you have been asking for more kraft tutorials. I know you'd really really like to see a video demo but I don't have a video camera and besides, I very much doubt you'd like to sit there as long as it takes me to color! I would definitely have to speed record it and then you lose the technique a bit.
So basically, the bad news is you're not getting a vid. lol
The good news is, you can print out still photos for future reference. See, there's a silver lining to every cloud.
~So lets get started!~
Today I am using my Lyra Rembrant pencils. They have an advantage over the prismas when it comes to coloring skin; I can use fewer pencils to achieve the same effect. So that's what I'm going to use here.
(For Prisma skin coloring on kraft see this tutorial here)

Step 1
Just give the baby an all over color with the white.
Not much technique going on here, just use a light hand and move in circular motions so you don't get streaks of pigment.

Step 2
Add a layer of cream over the white
(in the bottom corner of the photos you'll see the colors listed that have been used thus far.
At the base of the picture you'll see the actual pencils.

Step 3
Add a layer of light flesh over the white and cream.

Step 4
Layer of pink madder lake.
(you can leave some areas lighter~ stomach, forehead, etc)

Step 5
Dark flesh.
(again pay more attention to the areas that are going to be darker in the shadows. You're "sculpting" at this point. So imagine that your image is 3 dimensional and you're "feeling the indents" with your pencil instead of your fingers.)

Step 6
This is where the baby really starts coming alive.
Add a layer of golden ochre. Don't worry, you're not going to ruin anything.

Step 7
The really FUN part!
Now this is where you really want to start spending a bit more time and attention.
Remember you can always add a bit more color but you can't take it away. So go very lightly but start building up your shadows with the rose madder lake and giving the baby some pudginess.

Step 8
All we really want to do here is perfect it. Its looking good but it can look even better if you blend with medium flesh, highlight the highest elevations (forehead, belly, parts of the arms that are catching the light etc) with white.
Then go in with your black pencil to redefine any lines that may have become lost under pigment. (eyebrows, eye area, fingers, toes etc)
I could actually go in some more and deepen my shadows yet further (and I may do that before I come to use this image) but you can get the idea without me complicating  it, right?

And that's all there is to it!
I hope you've had fun today, let me know if you have any questions or ideas for future tutorials.
Have a great weekend!

Welcome Baby~ meet Poppy

Hi Again!
This is my second post today so for my Kraft Outlet card please scroll down.
This morning I am featuring yet another woodland creation of Stacey Yacula's at Purple Onion Designs.
Is this not just the cutest wittle wabbit? Her name is Poppy. And she's Adorable with a capital A.
Something  worth mentioning about this stamp line is the size of the images. they're quite large. Which personally, I like. Its one of the reasons I use digital images so much, because I can resize to make them larger, so many rubber stamps are a little on the cramped side; but with this stamp line the stamps are already sizable enough to enjoy coloring up good and propah!

Recipe:
Paper: MME
Dies: Spellbinders
Sentiment: printed on computer
Ribbon: Crafty Ribbons

Thats it from me today, but stop by the Purple Onion blog and see what other eye candy is over there, the girls have been busy!

Swine Flu

Hi Everyone!
Ok, maybe swine flu is a thing of the past but allergies still rule!!
This week's challenge at The Kraft Journal is:
Use Your Stash
No problemo mi amigo!
Ive got lots of stash and I do like to use up some leftover bits every now and then, too. So Ive been saving my remaining bits of cardstock from  81/2 x11 sheets of cardstock that I make a 51/2 x51/2 cards from (which leaves a length of 3x11). I just score those 3x11s in half and make small notelets like this one.

Recipe:
Colors: Prismacolors and Lyras
Lunch Bag Kraft (for coloring)
Paper: MME "Fine and Dandy Girl" and "Market Street"
Punch: Martha Stewart
Dies: Spellbinders
White Gel Pen (for faux stitching)
button (from stash)

So I hope that inspired you a little bit today, I'll be looking out for your creations this week and hope you can play along with us at The Kraft Journal!

Hello Sunshine~ Meet Freckles and Tucker

Hi Guys!
Today I have something rather special for you. Michele, over at Purple Onion Designs asked if I would be interested in showcasing a brand spankin new line of rubber stamps by the amazing artist Stacey Yacula. I was told they were adorable woodland creatures and so of course I said yes!!! and I'm so glad I did cos they are as CUTE AS CUTE CAN BE!
So today I am using the frog (Freckles) and snail  (Tucker) which I put together in the same space to make them "friends".
Frogs don't eat snails, do they? Well, anyway, they look friendly enough. :)
Now what you're seeing today  is a preview of the new stamp line, you can have a look at some more gorgeous samples here on the  Purple Onion Designs blog in the coming days and weeks and I, too, will be adding more samples here on my own blog throughout the month.
If you like what you see, the shop will be open for orders this Tuesday the 17th.
