"Nicecrane's" Gustav Dore Clip Art~ ATCs

OK, guys! Something a little different for you today.
You all know how I love my bright cheerful colors ;well here's the other side of me. :-) (Scary, huh? lol)Gustav Dore, you gotta love the raw emotion he evokes in his art (or did. He's dead now). I just love his art. It is a little dark but like i said, gutsy.
Below is his Little Red Riding Hood. I'm sorry, but if that doesn't make a little kid sleep well, there's something wrong with them! lol
Nice Doggie, Nice Doggie

The images are mostly black and white with gold veining. But if you go over some of the details with Prismacolors, the pictures just pop. Notice the greenery and blue sky below.

And wonderful Puss In Boots! Can anyone ever have too much Puss In Boots?
He's Da Man, right there!

The rocky cliffs below I added some white/grey pencil to and gave it some more dimention. Couple that with some chatruesse and blue in the water and you can see how much fun you can have with these images.

I tore and distressed the images and used my odds and ends to collage them. Also added a gold cord in different patterns to tie in the gold veining in the clip art.
Below you see the sheet as it comes through Nicecranes shop.
have a poke around, he has some pretty cool stuff. Release the inner artist :-)

Tea Time

Hello out there in Blogland!! I hope you all enjoyed a nice weekend. :-)
Today's card is quite girly girly. While I was putting down the pearls I was thinking how very similar they were to those candy spots that you but at a penny candy store on the rolls of paper. You know what I'm talking about? It made me want to lick my fingers. lol
Front view!

I thought of putting on a sentiment but you know how it is. By the time Ive added all my bling there's no room!

Peter Rabbit ATCs

So! Someting different again today!
Using Nicecranes lovely clip art I have made a few ATCs to share with you all. Now keep in mind its been a while since I made any ATCs although I was once rather prolific with them as most of my friends know . lol
Here they are:
Three of the four were made using the clip art pack Peter Rabbit and the fourth was taken from Squirrel Nutkin. Also, keep in mind that these are a small taste of the digital clip art packs as each one comes with 8 designs. A really fantastic deal at $2.44 a pack.
Sometimes I like to coat my ATCs with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and Perfect Medium to make a shiny hard coat but the addition of the bling and hemp made that impossible this time. So individually...here they are:

Also, something to consider are Nicecranes Collage sheets, a collage sheet allows you to cut away the elements you want to use,  for example check this out here. Its different than the presized images like the ones Ive used in my ATCs here in this post. Something to consider.
Ok!Thanks for looking and I hope to have more to share with you next time!

Beach Bear

Hi Guys!
Well I'm doing something I rarely do and that is using pink and purple. It's good to shake things up a bit.
Here's a front view:

I am using an image by Elizabeth O. Dulemba, a children's artist. You can find her digis here for free.
I have colored it using Prismacolor pencils and the papers are all from my stash.
Two more close ups:

And as I sometimes do, I like to show you all the work in progress. It's kinda fun.

Not too messy, but I'm not showing you the floor. :-)

Colored Pencil Tutorial

Hi guys! This is a tutorial I made for my good friend, Annemaritta who is just learning the wonders of coloring. She has asked for some tips and I'm going to do my best to give her a few. :-)
If this tutorial helps anyone else I am very happy for it.
Above you see the supplies.
I use Prismacolor pencils most of the time. The fact is,I've tried several brands of colored pencils and Prismacolors have the softest ,creamiest lead. So if you can find them I would suggest you invest in them.

As you can see, I'm not using many colors here. And my pencils are not the sharpest.
I don't mean them to be.

Start off with very gentle, soft, circular strokes.
Find where your shadows would be (in this case I decided that the sun is coming from the right side, leaving the left of the bunny in shadows. This is where I am going to put down color.

See? You don't see any line marks because we went in light  circular  motions.
Now we'll continue with the rest of the body.

Pretty easy so far, right?
Now lets get out the goo gone or baby oil. I have put some sqares of felt in a container and poured a bit of goo gone on top to wet the squares. I am not going to saturate my blending stump. I am only going to dab my stump on the felt to moisten my stump.

Lets start with the ear.
From the outside in, work in circular motions to blend your pencil.

Looking nice. Now we'll continue with the rest of the body.
Now, it's looking pretty good but to make it pop we need to darken the shadows a little bit.
Use the same pencil.

Now blend again.

We're not done yet.
We haven't even touched another pencil yet! Lets get out the sepia pencil.

We want to darken the deepest shadows with the sepia pencil.
And you've got it. Blend. :-)

OKay, lets grab one more pencil. A pink pencil for the feetsies.Just do the same as you've been doing.

Blend.

And the finished wittle bunny wabbit.

I hope you had fun :-)
