Card for The Blind

Hi!
Guess what?
I set myself the ultimate challenge today:
Make a card for the blind.
Personally, I would never have thought of doing this but a friend of ours (who is blind) just lost her daughter and I wanted to do something for her but what can you do???
You offer comfort as best you can, but being a cardmaker, I set to making her a card.
I first gathered my most textured items.
I wanted Clara to be able to "see" the card.

My Recipe:
fuzzy hoarstooth paper by Me and My big Ideas
Embossing folders: (Cuttlebug)
Spellbinders nesties and 3 Dimentional sticky pads
Fuzzy ribbon, lacey ribbon, smooth ribbon
Buttons and flowers
and oh yes! Braille!

A close up of the side:

And lower right corner:

And last but not least, my clumsily "pierced" braille, which reads:
"So Sorry"
btw, this is harder than it looks since you need to write it "mirror image" as its the back side that you use.
But trial and error and eventually I had a copy that I hope she can read!

I hope you enjoyed having a look today and thanks so much for coming by!

What a beautifully thoughtful thing to do Dorcas. How sad for your friend to lose her daughter, I'm sure your loving kindness will be of comfort to her. A very lovely card to look at too. I can see a glimpse of texture on the inside of the card too. I have a friend I'd like to do something similar for. He struggles with M.E as well as being blind. Hugs lin

Fabulous Dorcas, and so considerate. I am sure it will be much appreciated and whilst they might not be able to see the lovely pinks that we can, when the sighted tell them that it is visually wonderful too, they will be even more thrilled.

You never cease to amaze me! I would have never thought of that! She will love it. She probably does not get cards much so she will cherish this one. I have a friend who is blind and she recognizes details that we do not. She also loves color. You have to describe every color and new shade of color to her. This color choice is perfect as well as all of the texture! Great job!
