Families & Warm Fuzzies

THis card and I have been places. I originally made it for a DT but then got the dates wrong so that the challenges I made the card to fit would all have been expired by the time I could post it, so now I'll have to make another DT card cos I can't let the challenges escape from me! lol

Front view:
Recipe:
Colors: Prismacolors
Gems and flowers: Recollection
Dies: Nestability
Tag: handmade with stamp by Stampin Up, distress inks and chalk

A close up of the image which took me about four hours to color...

more close ups..

I actually found a handmade tag in my stash that I thought I could use and went to the trouble of coloring my image and decorating my card to "go with" this tag only to find when it all came together that  the tag was way too big to fit.  So back to the drawing board....I made a new one.

And the colossal mess I made for one card!!

That's it!  Well, its not it, but I'm not showing you the floor! Thanks for coming by to visit. :-)
I would like to enter this in some challenges before I go...

Creative Cottage: Bling It On
Litter Red Wagon: Make your own embellie
Cooking It Up With Katie: Digi plus yellow plus sparkle
Paper Play: A hidden extra, tag etc

Thanks for all your comments and coming to see me. :-)

Eskimo Kisses

Hi ! Its me again! :-)
Today's card is pretty self explanitory. A "Thank You for being my friend" card.
I thought this image by Mo's Digital pencil worked perfectly. When I was little my mum and I used to give eachother eskimo kisses. (never being fond of wet kisses, myself). We still do actually.
Can everyone say Awwwwww.....

My recipe:
Papers: DCWV and assorted from stash
Sentiment: my own
Colors: Prismacolors
Gems: Recollection
Ribbon: Offray

And a close up of the image:
You can see how I added a bit of light blue to break up the blacknes of the child's hair. I think it gives it a bit of dimention.

lots of chunky layers.....

I'd like to take part in the following challenges:
 Mo's DP2: Bling
Sentimental Sunday: Sentiment and dimentional
Raise the Bar: Cooler weather

Thanks for all your sweet comments , they really make my day. :-)

Outer Banks, NC 2010

Hi Everyone!
 I'm baaaaaaaaaackk!!!
I haven't made any cards yet, having just got back last night but here's a few pics from our vacation to hold you over. (Don't you just looove other people's vacation pictures? *yawn*)
I'll go as quick as I can.
Below is the house we rented for the week:

and the view from one of the back balconies:

Hmmmm.. well hey,  This one is better!
Oooohhhh

And a look down. Yikes!

Below is the walkway to the beach. This became a very familiar trot.

And the wild horses which we went 4x4ing to see:

Awww...they were worth it! (even if I liked the egrets that acccompanied them better! :-)

And below we have the sand dunes of Nag's Head.
It was hotter than blazes this day and QUITE a trek up those dunes. I took my shoes off (flip flops) and walked in the sand;  but at a few places I had to kneel in the sand and kick my feet up to give them a break from the screaming heat. Isn't this how they mummified people in Egypt? Stuff their skins with sand? Doesn't bear thinking about, does it?

These poor slobs below have to lug their hang gliders up the dunes in order to glide off. Not sure that would be worth it......... can I just say that the sand is DEEP?

Here's my husband and daughter running ahead....yes, RUNNING, who are these people?

One of the sand lagoons. Pretty refreshing , even if it was only four inches deep....

And below the crazy Brit I call my husband. LOL

I might just add that this infamous hat did NOT COME OFF THE WHOLE TRIP. Yes, I swear it was fused to his head. Even while body boarding. I kid you not.

And me and my sister. Gotta dig the windblown hair. No more pictures of me. I got sun poisoning after this and my skin was all bubbles. (like bubble wrap). Yeah. Real pretty.
Moving On!
Look at our beachcombing results! How cool is this!

Yes, I did have to gut them myself but what specimens, ey?
And packing up to go home.....
I think we can fit one more suitcase.....

Ok, you can go log out now. :-)
btw, I am sparing you all. I took well over a hundred pictures. lol But! at the risk of losing my following I only show you a bakers dozen. Am I sweet or what?
Back to my pencils!
Hugs, Dorcas))))

Hi From The Beach

                                                                          Hi All!

Are you missing me? lo l
I'm here at the beach (sorry, no pics as I'm on my sisters laptop and didn't bring my uvb cable. (or whatever its called) but rest assured (I know~ you were worried. :-D) we are having a nce time. The weather is perfect but alas we cannot go swimming in the oceas as its full of rip currants from the recent hurricanes and we risk getting a ticket if we disobey. Actually, one look at the waves and you can see that we'd risk more than a ticket if we went out!
But the water is warm and we can play in the shallows and make a run for it when the breakers come too close, also the beach house has a small swimming pool if we just can't take being dry any longer.
Tomorrow we're hoping to go 4x4ing on the dunes where the wild horses are. If we go when its low tide we may just be able to find some horseshoe crabs as well. When I say 4x4ing I don't mean on ATVs. I mean letting the air in the tires down in the SUV to half inflation and taking it on the beach in 4 wheel drive. Oh yeah! That's what I'm talkin about!
Good fun. :-)
I'm not getting much coloring done here so I have my work cut out for me when I get home. It irks me to see all the challenges I'm missing out on......nevermind, a holiday is good. Relax, right?.
Okay, well I'm gonna let you all go.
Take Care and I'll see you in a week!
Hugs, Dorcas

Creative Inspirations~ Pink/Black "Places To Go, People To Annoy"

Well today's card I made for Creative Inspirations challenge this week which is "Pink & Black".
I'm not normally a pink and black sort of person so I had to have a bit more fun with it and use my wicked little bugaboo digi.....yeah, isn't she great?

Check out the headlights. Cool huh? And the little pink bobble so she can find her car in the parking lot if it hasn't already been towed away.lol
My recipe:
Image: Bugaboo
Colors: Prismacolors
Dps: Mainly DCWV
Ribbon: Dashes, Dots and Checks
Punch: Martha Stewart
Bling: Recollection

And a couple of close ups....

Just a note to you all out there...
The winner of the Creative Inspirations challenge this fortnight gets 7 bugaboo digis of their choice!!
What's not to love, right? So play along and I can stop by and see you. and who knows you might be making little sassy Stellas too:-)

Oh, and another thing. I am (hopefully) at the beach when you read this so I wont be posting (unless I've programmed one or two for you) so I may be  a bit quiet for a week or so. But if the agency was being honest with us and there's wifi, I might just be able to keep an eye on all my peeps while I'm brushing sand out of my bathingsuit. lol
Take Care!
 xx Dorcas

I'll Stick With You

Two posts today!
I was coloring this little girl in last night, thinking I would program a post or two while I'm away next week but once I got into it I knew I couldn't wait til next week for you all to see her because she's so cheerful she just makes you happy looking at her!
Yes, I see that one button is cockeyed..Trust me it is fixed, but I wasn't going to take more pictures..

Do you remember the days when you'd rub a balloon on your hair just to make it stand up? Yes you did!! C'mon, I know it wasn't just me!!
Anyway...

Dps: DVWV
Image: Mo Manning
Colors: Prismacolors
Buttons: no idea
Sentiment: my own

And a close up:

and the sentiment below....

Challenges this card fits in:

Pixie Cottage : Sketch
Creative Card Crew: Fall colors
Color Q: fall colors
A Crafty Little Place: recipe (1 flower, 2 dp, 3 buttons)

I think that's it for today guys. Have a great week and I'll see you all this weekend. :-)

To The Moon And Back

Hiya Peeps! How is your week treating you?
Today's card needs a bit of background explaning.
My daughter and my Dad have had this joke since she was a toddler and used to read the book, "Guess How Much I Love You". They need to out-do the other with their expressions of love.
"I love you to the moon and back.." "Yeah, well, I love you around the universe a hundred gajillion times"....it goes on and on and on......
So this digi reminded me of her and I thought it was kinda sweet. :-)
front view:

I am using a digi by Mo Manning and colored with Derwent Graphitint pencils and Prismacolors. (except the skin which is copics)
A close up:

And the detail area below:

You know I never do the inside of a card.. well this time I had to because I couldn't fit the sentiment on the front without it looking too out of place. So here is the inside:
It reads:
"I love You To The Moon And Back" (from the book Guess How Much I Love You)

You can see I didn't go crazy with it. I just had to stick that sentiment somehwhere! I would like to enter this in a couple of challenges:

Quixotic Paperie: The great outdoors (starry night)
Frosted Design: Use a quote (inside card~ from book)
For Fun Challenge: Glitter (in stars)

Thanks for everything guys!

Did You Miss Me?

Hi Guys!
Wow...three days and I haven't posted....yes, I'm still alive. Now the question: Did you miss me?  lol
Weekends are always hectic. But I did color! Sunday night I colored a couple of Mo Mannings while watching "the Scarlet Pimpernell".
 This is one of them.

First can I just say it is NEVER OK to draw on walls, allright children?
That is never cute ..... Especially if you rent.
and a close up.
My only peeve with this picture is it looks like he has one arm on backwards...is it just me?

It reminds me of when I was little and my Barbie doll's arms would pop off (usually after my sister got sick of playing them with me and would start "killing off" the characters) and then I'd try to put them back together again with limited success......

My recipe is:
Image: Mo Manning
Colors: Prismacolors , Graphitint pencils, and copics (for skin)
Papers: mainly DCWV
Bling: Recollection and Deja Views

And speaking of bling, here are some close ups of the blingy bits..

So I have a few challenges I would like to enter this in.
I tried my best to make it fit the criteria. I do realize that I have a bit of blue on my card and the color challenges don't mention blue but I just had to add it so that it would "make sense" so feel free to delete me if you think I'm too far off the target. But you did say that its ok if I don't have the exact colors so long as I had fun so I did do that right! lol
(even if this card was a pain in the heiny!)
But still comment, ok, cos that's the whole reason I enter these things! lol

Stamp Something: Spots and Stripes
Totally Papercrafts: Lets go dotty
Paper Sundaes: Min. of 3 different embellies
Paper Players: Olive, Mustard, Red and Brown
Sketch Saturday: sketch (I turned it upside down)
Allsorts: Autumn colors
Incy Wincy: red, yellow, brown and green

Well, that's all I have for today. Thanks so much for all your support and sweet comments.

Look at them! Aren't they shweeeeet?:-)

A close up of the sntiment made by my own sick mind. Hey! I heard that groan...

Yes, I know, I know, three flowers is a bit much but I had to make it fit the recipe challenge. They can come off later!

And some pics of my card in the making.....

Not too bad really, is it.....

I would like to enter this in a few challenges:

Color Throwdown: pink, green, yellow and turquiose
(ok, they were fancier~shmancier names than that but WE all know what they really are!)
Digital Tuesday: dots and stripes
One AStitch At ATime: blooms buttons and bling
Cute Card Thursday: Play on words (Sow have you been...get it, get it??)
