In Sympathy

OK, so I've decided that I'm not going to make any more cards with colored images!
What do you think of that?
Kidding!
Had you worried, didn't I?
Truth is, I needed a sympathy card quickly for a male friend of ours and not having an appropriate digi or the time to color one I decided to go "clean and simple". This is about as clean and simple as it gets in my world.

The papers are DCWV and the sentiment from TLC. The lovely paper flower was made by Laura
Thanks, Laura!
The dies are Nesties and the corner is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Sympathy cards are always difficult for me to make cos I never know whether the person is a "black sympathy " person or a "cheer me up sympathy" person. Since this is a  grown male who I think is pretty traditional I went with the safety of black/gray but punched it up a bit with yellow.
If he's like most men I know he'll only glance at it anyway and chuck it. lol
(my husband just kinda stared at with eyebrows pulled together.....)

Another reason not to spend two hours coloring an image!

I hope you all have a peaceful  and happy week.

I'ts a beautiful card, and I'm sure he will like it very much. I know it's rough to do these up, especially if it's for a friend. Hope things will be better. Hugs, dj

It's a very lovely card, Dorcas, and I'm sure will be appreciated and kept for the sentiment it conveys. Yes, it is hard to know which type of sympathy card to make and you summed it up perfectly. I'm like you feeling the need to color an image for every card, but when I do a card without the image it is very freeing and a nice change of pace.... then my craving comes back for my Copics!

I've got to be honest,I don't "do" sympathy cards having recieved a huge amount that I couldn't bare to look at when my Dad passed away, but this is so very tasteful. the pop of colour gives a little cheer where I'm sure it is needed. As for the HB,if he's anything like mine,it's a bonus to get him to actually look at a card before saying thats nice. Word to the wise DONT EVER GIVE UP YOUR AMAZING COLOURING!!!!! Julie.x

I knew you would do an awesome card! And you threatened to buy one! It came out great! I love the silver on the paper, and the splash of yellow is perfect. I have not gotten my rear in gear yet, but I hope to do CAS too! Wish I had that paper!

That is a lovely and elegant card, Dorcas. I find it difficult to make sympathy cards so I try to do them in batches ahead of time. It's always sad when I have to use one.

I found you through The Outlawz Follow Me forum and I am now following you. I hope you will visit my blog, Tickell Expressions.

Blessings,
Teresa
