"Dutch Dare" Challenge ~ Back To School Bookmarks

Hi All!

Today is my first post as part of the Dutch Dare Card Challenge DT. Wahoo!

The challenge this fortnight is "Back To School Bookmarks" .I have colored my image (kindly provided by our sponsor this week, "The Stampin Botique" ) with Prismacolor pencils and blended with goo gone. Below is a close up:

Todays card was very Time consuming! My goodness, this coloring took me foreva!

I made todays card for my sister who's been battling a very bad bout of IBD for the last four or five months. She always loved pigs growing up and would collect them. I lost count of how many piggy salt and pepper shakers she came to have...

"Nicecrane's" Humpty Dumpty Card

Hi All!

Here's a fun card for you all today. Who doesn't love Humpty Dumpty?

I made this card for a friend who had a fall and broke her wrist. Am I horrible? lol

I should have made this for another friend of ours who got thrown out of the back of a pickup truck and lost 1/3 of his skull.... but I didn't have this stamp last year. So!

A "Fairyland" New Home

I thought I would do a little bit of experimenting today. :-)

You all know how I love to color. Well, I 'm not coloring!Today's card was made using one of Nicecrane's  ATC/ACEO backs which I copy and pasted into word and then stretched into a 51/2 inch square.

This opens up a whole new world to me. He's got tons of ATC backs and now that I know I can resize them, I can make all sorts of background paper out of them for my cards. Of course, this wouldn't work if there were people in the picture (they might look like they're playing in the funny mirrors) but for scenes like the one above, it works like a dream. How cool is that?

I made this card for our neighbors who have just built a new house and will be moving.:-(

I printed this on my new printer. yay!! I am back in business, guys!! (for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, my printer broke over the weekend).

There's a bit of a private joke here, but suffice it to say that I made this card for my dad who happens to be a masseuse. He has one client (who I have no idea who it is~ privacy acts and all) who he nicknames Butterball. *cough cough*

(by the way, this is me in a few years with all this sitting on my rump making cards. It will be "tushy touche")

Speaking of pigs, you all know I live in the country in North Carolina. Here in the country you get asked some interesting things. I've been asked if I wanted to hold someone's Turkey, (full grown gobble gobble turkey)  for instance.

Well yesterday our mechanic asked our daughter if she would like to go to their house and ride his pig!!

Yes, you heard right. ride his pig.

It turns out he has two pet porkers named Pork Chops and Bacon, 750 pounds and 1000 pounds respectively.

Uhhhhhh......no. I think I'll pass this time. But tempting! So tempting! lol

"Priscillastyles" Oil Lamp Card

Hi All!

Today's card is a little different for me. I'm not used to using images that I haven't done much coloring to. This is a digi by Priscilla, her store is here. I chose to paper piece the lamp because I wanted a "Blue Willow" china effect. Not sure how well I succeeded but it was an interesting exercise!

Now you can 't see it very well, but I actually added a little red gem on the flame which looks pretty real  in real life but not so noticable on film. I also stuck some bling around the edge of the glass and the wick nob.

Actually no, let me ammend that, this mess was just from the image! I'm not showing you the mess from the card! lol

"Creative Inspirations" ~ Shaped Card

Hi Everyone! Well some fun news today. I am now on the DT of Creative Inspirations!  *clap clap clap* Thank you all, I heard that!

Now, you know what that means don't you? You all will  have to play with me so I can leave all the friendly comments on your blogs. If you don't,  I'll feel like I'm sitting by myself in a corner somewhere. :-(

The challenge this fortnight is a shaped card. No squares or rectangles. Pop over to the Creative Inspirations blog so you can see what the rest of the team has come up with. There's some pretty creative people out there, let me tell you.

I chose to make a dress and found a  template over on Mel stampz blog, She's got tons of ideas and templates so if any of you were thinking along the same lines as me you have no excuse now. Just click on her name. :-)

This card is dead simple to make so why not give it a try?I thought it would make cute invitations for a little girl's party.

Prismacolor Eye Candy

Look what arrived today in the mail! Isn't it sweeeeeet?

120 luscious colors and yes, I know they come in 132 but hey 120 is still alot of colors and besides, I got a good deal!!

Close up. See. I am not lying.. 120 colors!

 

But just so you don't get too jealous, let me tell you I wasn't 100% happy with this.

For one thing, some pencils are bent. (that's just wrong!)

Also, the plastic cases don't nest perfectly so it's actually impossible to close the lid tightly. Its almost like the top layer is from a different set, the corners are rounded instead of square and it does not FIT!!

(I guess it fit when I got it because it was shrinkwrapped.)

Even with a good deal, they're still expensive so I would have at least expected to have a tin big enough to house the pencils....Not happy about that.

But enough already. Lets have a trip down memory lane.

My original Prismacolor set. A present from my mum when I was about 13. They no longer fit in the tin when they got shorter so they ended up in a decorated tuna fish can.

You can see below that many of my pencils are still quite decent....

While others are pathetic...

I could have relaced the ones that were worn out and bought my missing colors but sometimes its cheaper to buy a new set than individuals. And I was thinking of the age old problem of storage...

So overall I was happy today.

 UNTIL........

My printer broke.

 This is catastrophe guys. Broken belt on the carriage. Almost impossible to replace, I could try to stick it back together but I can't get at the stupid thing even after undoing the screws. I read online how one guy sewed his belt back together....I would try it if I could get it out.

I'll let you know what I end up doing. (Cos I know you're just holding your breath.NOT! lol)

"Nicecrane" Peter Pan ATCs

Hi Guys!

Well today's ATCs were made from a collage sheet by Nicecrane Designs  (check it out here  as there's several of these Peter Pan collage sheets and I think I want one of each!! lol )  which I hand colored, distressed and "blingified". The above ship was such a nice picture I didn't do much with it except color it. I hated to cut anything out.

Here is the sheet I used:

 Below we have "Pin the tail on the meraid". Just kidding! lol

I love this oone. Wendy and the boys trying to catch a mermaid....

For the above and the two below I also used another collage sheet of Nicecranes called "Gothic arches. " It is obvious in the one below (Peter and Wendy) , but for the others I simply turned an arch upside down to make some cool patterns.

I  wish I had some stickles to add some glitter effects to the mermaids but alas my glitter is too chunky. :-(

 I guess I can put that on my next shopping list!

By the way, I have a bit of a surprise for you from Nicecrane himself....anyone who leaves some lovin on this post will recieve a surprise and one lucky commenter will recieve the complete Peter Pan series!! How cool is that?

Organizing The Blingy Nightmare

Does any one else have this problem?

Above is the "bling bag" (the lesser known "blankety blank bling bag" say that 10 times fast! lol)

I needed a new system. See, my blingy buddies all love eachother so much they never want to part.:-) I always intended to keep my bling in their individual socks but somehow this never happens.

 So here it is all emptied out below in one " adhesive "whole:

And after I pried most of them  apart:

(which is a bigger job than it looks. Cos then you need to find where all the orphans go and bring them back to Mommy. (if they still have stickiness)

Here's what I did.

I had some binder sleeves laying around and I got n A4 cardstock sheet to slide in. (I first shaved a bit of one side to allow room for the bling to stand up without being squeezed)

And on the cardstock I rolled some runner tape to affix my bling sheets.

You can fit quite a bit on one sheet.

 Then slip it into the sleeve.

So below is my finished bling enclosed in their sleeves. I still have a few packs loose but they still had their plastic socks and  are a little bulky in size so I left them out.

I will now add this to my digi  ring binder to store.

Time will tell how well it works.

In the meantime,  I am very interested to hear what my followers do to keep their bling contained.
